(Q) Has your storm shelter been tested at Texas Tech University Wind Engineering Institute and if so what were the results?
(A) In September, 2001, our storm shelter's door system design was subject to debris impact testing at TTU and was certified (supporting documents available upon request).

(Q) Has your shelter been designed with the help of a qualified engineer?
(A) Our manufacturer had extensive help in design and development from a local University School Of Engineering.

(Q) Even though your shelters have a guarantee, are they manufactured with materials that will rot such as wood?
(A) The storm shelters are manufactured with all core areas (such as the floor and door) with a space-age honeycomb plastic.

(Q) What should we keep in mind when selecting the site for our shelter installation?
(A) The location you select for your shelter should be clear of underground lines, septic system, and standing water. In addition, it should allow accessibility for our excavating equipment.

(Q) What is the approximate yard area required to install the shelter?
(A) 4, 6, 10 and 12 person units: 10’ x 11’
     18 person: 10’ x 16’

(Q) Will I need a permit to have my shelter installed?
(A) Each county has its own requirements. Safe Zone Shelters will check with your local government office and determine if a permit will be needed. If you live in a Home Owners Association, you may want to check with the association to see if permission to install the shelter is required.

(Q) Who will contact Ms. Utility?
(A) Safe Zone Shelters will call Ms. Utility and have them mark the lines on your property.

(Q) How long will it take you to install my shelter?
(A) Our storm shelters can be installed in a day (some times less).

(Q) How will Fire and Rescue departments know that I have a storm shelter?
(A) Upon installing your shelter, Safe Zone Shelters will contact your local Emergency Services department and request that your 911 information be updated to include that you have a shelter and where it is located on your property.

(Q) What forms of payment do you accept?
(A) We accept cash, check, money order/cashiers check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.
